Near Stafford C.H., Va Sunday, Apr. 12, 1863
Dear Wife,
It has been cold and stormy here untill 2 or 3 days past which has been quite
warm and spring like & reminds me of the warm sugar that is being made
up north. We have had two reviews the past week of this Corps of the Army.
One by General Howard our new commander & one by father Abraham. The latter
created quite a sensation & passed off quite creditably...
