    Finding Jamestown
    Up for an adventure? Grab your friends for a 2 hour smart phone scavenger hunt of Jamestown's history. Teams of up to four follow the clues pointing them in the direction of famous and well-known landmarks of Jamestown's past. Entry fee includes eats at the post-hunt party, prize package give-aways and lots of fun! The event begins at 1 PM, the party starts 2 hours from the starting shot.     8th Annual "Saints and Sinners" Lake View Cemetery Tours
    From 3 PM until 8 PM stepping off throughout the day and evening. At historic Lake View Cemetery, corner of Buffalo St. and Lakeview Ave., Jamestown. Horse drawn carriage and walking tours available. The tour will uncover some of the more than 43,000 personal stories at Jamestown's beautiful Lake View Cemetery. Be ready to learn some interesting information about Jamestown and Lake View Cemetery. Presale: $10 for adults, $2 for children & youth; half price for Fenton History Center members.     Mausoleum Tours and More at Lake View Cemetery
    A guided behind-the-scenes tour of a number of the elegant mausoleums and gravesites in Jamestown's 1859 cemetery. Costumed actors tell the family stories. Light refreshments follow the tour. 8 PM The cost is $20 for potential members, $15 for members. Youth and children are $5. Reservations are requested; please call 664-6256 to reserve your tickets.

Walking Tours

Beginning the last Saturday in May and through the last Saturday in September, the Fenton will lead a series of four rotating walking tours.

The first tour is Jamestown's Early Industry. Other tours offered are Jamestown's Lakeview Avenue, the Old Northside (our current Downtown area), and Jamestown's Southside.

The Industry, Northside and Southside tours meet at the Fenton History Center at 12:45 PM on the Saturday of the tour. The Lakeview Avenue tour meets at the corner of Buffalo Street and Lakeview Avenue by the cemetery office.

Tours begin at 1 PM and last approximately two hours. Cost is $10 for potential members, $5 for members.

Appropriate clothing and footwear are required. Participants should be able to walk for the full 2 hours.

5/26, 6/23, 7/21 sorry! cancelled, 8/18, 9/15 --- Tour Jamestown: the Industrial Tour

The Chadakoin River and the railroad made Jamestown an industrial powerhouse. Walk along the river in the downtown area and learn about the four major industries of the Gilded Age in Jamestown; textiles, wood furniture, metal products and photographic paper. Old industry sites along the river, The Broadhead Mill building and parts of Brooklyn Square, are all part of the walk. Participants should be able to walk for 2 hours, wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing. Led by Fenton History Center Trustees. Tour will start at the Fenton History Center.

6/2, 7/28, 8/25, 9/22 --- Tour Jamestown: A walking tour of the Southside

Jamestown's southside has always been a mix of industry and residential neighborhoods. Why? Learn about the businesses, factories and families that thrived in the southside neighborhood of Forest Ave. to Newland Ave. Two of Jamestown's oldest homes are on the tour. Participants should be able to walk for 2 hours, wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing. Led by Fenton History Center Trustees. Tour will start at the Fenton History Center.

6/9, 7/14, 8/4, 9/1, 9/29 --- Tour Jamestown: A walking tour of the downtown area, the old Northside.

A walking tour of the old Northside of Jamestown, now our greater downtown. From 4th St. to the Chadokoin, learn about the people and businesses that thrived here from the early 1800s to the 1950s. Participants should be able to walk for 2 hours, wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing. Led by Fenton History Center Trustees or Museum Teachers. Tour will start at the Fenton History Center.

6/16, 7/7, 9/8 --- Tour Jamestown: A walking tour of the Lakeview Avenue neighborhood

What was life like during the heyday of the "most beautiful street in Jamestown"? Learn about the upper class families that lived on the street, the changes over the years and what makes it the stately streetscape it is today. Tour will start at Lake View Cemetery, corner Lakeview and Buffalo St. Led by Fenton Trustees and volunteers.
