The Fenton History Center’s research center, located at 73 Forest Avenue in Jamestown, New York, houses a complete library of historical and genealogical publications, numerous pre-compiled family files, a wide array of archival materials, as well as, in house private work stations with access to genealogical databases. Its library includes publications pertaining to Chautauqua County, as well as, publications that pertain to the northeastern United States. Its dedicated team of volunteer research assistants actively assist visitors in house with their research, handle genealogy requests by mail and process genealogy requests online. The research center and museum are open to its members and the public Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Admission ($10) to the Fenton History Center includes access to the research center and its museum. Individuals who plan to make multiple visits to the research center are encouraged to purchase a Fenton History Center membership, as members enjoy unlimited access to the research center and museum. Members also receive a weekly newsletter, invitations to member-only events, the option to join the Fenton Genealogy Support Group, and discounted ticket rates to events held by the Fenton History Center. Mail Submissions: Individuals who are submitting a request by mail should include a personal check or certified money order that is addressed to the Fenton History Center for $30.

Our offices are open Monday through Saturday between 10 AM and 4 PM (Eastern Standard Time). Those who pay online or by phone should make note of the date and time of the transaction on their Genealogy Request form.

A research volunteer, guided by the information included in your submitted form, will conduct a thorough search of the research center library, family files, specialized genealogical databases, and other archival materials.
